FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN MILITARY WRITING

2008 Nominations
The Pritzker Military Library Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement recognizes a living author for a body of work dedicated to enriching the understanding of American military history including military affairs. These contributions may be academic, non-fiction, fiction or a combination of any of the three. The author selected should embody and represent the values of the Pritzker Military Library and be well-respected and known nationally and/or internationally. The author may be of any background or nationality. The collective works do not have to be written in English (in the original), however, the definitive work submitted must be in English.
Submission Guidelines
- The award recipient must be a living writer whose lifetime work is recognized in the field of American military history including military affairs.
- Publishers, agents, book sellers or other professional organizations in the publishing industry are eligible to nominate candidates for the award. Multiple nominations of an individual may be submitted. Self-nominations will not be accepted
- Submission requirements:
- Five (5) copies of the completed entry form.
- Five (5) copies of the "original definitive work" as outlined on the form. Only hardbound or paperback editions of the original publication will be accepted as "definitive works". Updated, revised, newly annotated or other such editions will not be considered original works. All submissions become the property of Tawani Foundation and will not be returned.
- Processing Fee: A certified or company check in the amount of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) entry fee per submission payable to: Tawani Foundation-PMLLAA.
- Incomplete submissions received on or after the deadline will not be considered for the current year award. Submissions made without payment will be considered incomplete until payment is received.
- All entries will be distributed to the Screening Committee who will have oversight of the award process. Additional information or copies of the definitive work may be requested of the nominator during the award process.
- Finalists will be submitted to the Executive Council and a live web cast announcement of the 2007 recipient will be made on June 23, 2008 at www.pritzkermilitarylibrary.org.
- All decisions by the Executive Council are final.

The definitive work is a book that best represents the nominees work. Only one definitive work is allowed for each nomination.
