Our giving is concentrated in areas of particular and personal interest to Colonel Pritzker, reflecting her interest in the military, history, the environment and human health. Uniting those interests are threads of preservation, conservation and discovery. The TAWANI Foundation supports organizations whose focus reflects our own: to connect the past with the future, and to use that perspective to make a real, measurable difference in the present.
The TAWANI Foundation has a long-standing connection to the military. It is our vision to make a sustained and measurable difference for organizations and educational programs that highlight the role of the military in society. Our broad categories of military grant-funding include:
The history of our military is inextricably intertwined with the broader American story, from the pre-revolution to the present. The TAWANI Foundation believes that preserving and honoring that past is essential to building an understanding of the vital role a healthy, vibrant military has played – and will continue to play – in our democracy.
In keeping with the Foundation’s focus on the citizen soldier and the importance of the military in the fabric of our society, TAWANI supports a range of organizations that provide training for aspiring members of the military, as well as offer assistance for families whose loved ones are on active duty.
In addition to our work supporting both aspiring military candidates and military families, as well as promoting awareness of military history, TAWANI Foundation have a strong commitment to organizations that recognize and provide assistance for our veterans. TAWANI believes there is no higher cause than aiding those whose service is central to a safe and free democracy.
Our educational grants reflect a commitment to a diversity of educational possibilities, both military and civilian. The institutions we support represent a range of instructional approaches and curricula, but share in common a commitment to excellence and opportunity for the students they serve.
With a focus on organizations following a science-based, human-rights approach, the TAWANI Foundation funds studies and efforts aimed at leading to a better understanding, and acceptance, of gender and human sexuality diversity. We are committed to increasing knowledge of that diversity by promoting awareness of the biological and social factors that make us unique as individuals and bind us together as a broad community.
The TAWANI Foundation is committed to preserving and protecting our architectural and cultural heritage. We support organizations whose goals are to ensure that national treasures, from significant physical structures to museums and arts organizations, are available for the enrichment of generations to come.
TAWANI Foundation is proud to support institutions, largely in and around the Chicago area, that further our knowledge of history, our appreciation of the present and our sense of what’s possible in the future. From art to music, from museums to public broadcast, we believe that enriching our regional culture is a benefit to our residents, to our economy and to the wider world.
The TAWANI Foundation is committed to preserving and protecting our architectural and cultural heritage. We support organizations whose goals are to ensure both prominent and less visible national treasures are preserved and protected for generations to come.
The Foundation’s focus is connecting the environment to economic opportunity – opening spaces that make the outdoors more accessible and more impactful both for low-income neighborhoods and the community at large.
Promoting greater access to health and wellness throughout our communities, TAWANI’s grants are awarded to organizations dedicated to encouraging activity, exercise, health care access and health support across the income spectrum.
