2010 Highlights
The generous investment of Tawani Foundation has allowed the Pritzker Military Library to grow and find new, innovative means of achieving its mission, which is to acquire and maintain an accessible collection of materials and develop appropriate programs focusing on the Citizen Soldier in the preservation of democracy.

Over the last year, support from Tawani Foundation and our program sponsors, members, individual and corporate donors has allowed the Library to:

  • Offer collections, gallery exhibits, and programs free to more than 6,000 visitors in person and 134,600 visits over the Internet
  • Increase its collection of books by more than 5000 volumes, to 35,000 total, which are available for members and through the inter-library loan system
  • Increase its collection of vintage military posters, photographs, and glass plate negatives by nearly 500 items, to 10,500 total
  • Expand its archival holdings by more than 70 linear feet of documents, maps, diaries, journals, and records, to 200 linear feet in total
  • Maintain our subscriptions to more than 110 periodicals
  • Develop and host four original exhibits of military art
  • Offer continuing education credits to K-12 educators in Illinois at nearly fifty programs
  • Offer more than a dozen writing and research workshops free to visitors
  • Host interviews with six recipients of the Medal of Honor from World War II and Vietnam, offered free to the public in person, on television, and through the Internet
  • Host more than three dozen lectures and interviews by award-winning authors and historians, also offered free to the public in person, on television, and through the Internet
Through the steadfast support of our founder Colonel Pritzker, Tawani Foundation, and a growing number of individuals and organizations, we have been able to reach more people and provide more educational opportunities than ever before. We are incredibly fortunate and deeply honored to partner with those who share our commitment to honoring military service and the legacy of the Citizen Soldier in American history. Edward C.
